La Siesta

La Siesta is a hotel located in Al Ain Al Sokhna, Egypt. I was commissioned to do the renders for the restaurant, pool and the reception areas.

Each image took 2-4 hours @ 4000px and were lit by Peter Guthrie’s excellent HDRI skies.

The challenge in this project was always to keep up with the nature of the environment. The national park has an outstanding beauty, mixing a lake, different types of trees and mountains. So we focus on the exterior lighting in the first place and how the textures could represent realistically the truth of the landscape. Reflection and diffuse maps were made in photoshop, trying over and over to get the best results. We hope you like it.

Diplomatic space

I had a call from one of the biggest architectural studios in Tunis – “Tasmeem”, asking me to illustrate their design of the Kuwaiti Ambassador’s home interior. The main challenge was the short deadline. 5 scenes in 3 days were for me a new record to beat.

I started from a CAD plan, imported it and modeled it in 3DSMax. Then I searched for Arabic classical furniture models, which was quite difficult to find because… no one cares
That’s why I’ve modeled from scratch a non-existent furniture. Daylight is made by Peter Guthrie’s HDRI + sun + artificial light. For Post-production I’ve used Photoshop and Lightroom.
