Atlas

When we have some spare time at the office, we like to play around with our imagination and make our own possible realities through the in-house project “KRAMGET”. This time the project was led by our colleagues Traian G. and Mihai C. focusing around the mythical Atlas. Enjoy!

MARS

Architecture on Earth plays a critical role in the way we live. On Mars, this reaches a higher level of importance since buildings are also machines we depend on to keep us alive and well. In Space architecture, every design decision is of great consequence to the success of a mission. Structures must be resilient and interior layouts must be tuned to mission demands. And yet, since sustained social and mental health are also mission-critical, Space habitats must be designed to be rich, useful and interesting worlds onto themselves. Marsha, AI SpaceFactory’s Mars habitat design, illustrates that the result can be both visionary and credible with an alien yet familiar beauty.

Taming A Cloud

This drove me mad. I wanted to simulate what http://www.berndnaut.nl/ is doing in reality, but with 3ds Max and Corona Renderer. You know, just using the basics. So I followed this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6R3JwCy02M and I thought “pretty easy, right? I can do this on a weekend”. Well… I went through so many iterations of the cloud in order to look realistic and changing the interior almost as many times as the cloud that, in the end, I spent over a month on this. I was realy stubborn on doing it with just the basics, without involving other softwares, but… because I wanted some extra details of the cloud I actually used some vdb. files that I got from https://www.openvdb.org/download/ . And that’s not a bad thing because I had to learn about some new great stuff. Like what vdb. files are, or exploring Phoenix FD at the office, discovering Houdini, things that I really want to explore further and make some other cool stuff. But, for now, this is my Taming A Cloud.
